Building Sacred Shelter Under the Season's Last Full Moon
Gathering resources and learning the art of letting go
Hello, and welcome back to our regularly scheduled programming. It’s still been a rough week but I have a feeling that will last awhile longer.
As a reminder, this is the last week to register for the free workshop for discovering your Norse spirit guardian, the Fylgja. In this free 45 minute workshop you will learn about the Fylgja, and identify ways to uncover yours + 2 take home meditations to practice.
This November's moon cycle guides us through deep introspection and release, offering wisdom to help us navigate the darker months ahead. Let's explore the collective energies around us right now, and learn how to work with them
Weekly Affirmation
"I embrace the darkness as a teacher, finding wisdom in the shadows and strength in letting go. As nature prepares for winter's rest, I too release what no longer serves my highest good.
🌕 Current Moon Phase 🌕
We're heading into Thursday evening, just a day away from tomorrow's full moon. The increasing moonlight makes this a natural time for wrapping up projects and setting final intentions. These autumn nights are perfect for taking a few quiet moments to yourself, whether that's finishing up tasks you've been meaning to get to or just taking stock of where you are.
🌕 Lunar Look Ahead 🌕
This week, we begin with a Supermoon on Friday, November 15
Known as the Beaver Moon, this Full Moon is also a Supermoon, appearing larger and brighter in the sky. This will be the last Supermoon we have in 2024. The Beaver Moon gets its name from the time when beavers are busy preparing for winter.
In these late autumn nights, the moon's glow reminds us of the lanterns our ancestors would have lit to guide their way through the darkening season. The moon’s light offers clarity and purpose, helping us see what truly matters as we prepare for winter's embrace.
Use this energy to embrace closure on unresolved matters, make space for new beginnings, and heighten your intuitive practices.
First Position - Thurisaz ᚦ (Reversed)
Thurisaz, also known as the Thorn, is reversed here so is speaking of defensive energies and shows “protection” but turned inward. In times of collective frustration, we can inadvertently find ourselves fighting battles on multiple fronts. This rune is suggests that our resistance needs strategy rather than just force. The long road ahead requires careful consideration of where we direct our energy.
Have you been feeling that surge of protective anger lately? Thurisaz reversed suggests we need to channel this energy more effectively. Those moments of frustration? They're valid, but might need redirecting into more sustainable forms of action.
Second Position - Laguz ᛚ (Upright)
Laguz, the water rune, flows into our reading and with it, brings its deep intuitive wisdom. When it feels like there is unrest and general social upheaval, this rune reminds us that we should trust our intuition about what's true and what's manipulation. You know those gut feelings about which voices to trust? That's Laguz talking.
The upright appearance suggests that we're in a period where seeing through illusions of people, or certain narratives becomes easier. Have you perhaps been having unsettling dreams about community and connection lately? Pay attention - Laguz says they're showing you important patterns.
Third Position - Mannaz ᛗ (Skewed)
Mannaz the rune meaning “mankind” appears skewed, which indicates that social structures and alliances are being viewed from uncomfortable angles. This rune can represent areas like human consciousness and collective action, and suggests we're seeing people's true faces now. Both allies and opponents are revealing themselves clearly.
You know those moments when someone shows exactly who they are? Mannaz says pay attention - these aren't accidents but revelations. The skewed position reminds us that sometimes seeing things from an odd angle gives us the clearest view of reality.
Weekly Guidance
The runes are suggesting:
Armor up, but make sure you’re not fighting imaginary threats. Consider the battle from a strategic lens.
Trust those gut feelings - they're your deeper wisdom speaking
When people show you who they are, believe them
Watch for:
The number 3 appearing in significant moments or decisions (particularly when you're feeling most defensive)
Water imagery showing up in unexpected places, that is Laguz talking and sending messages.
Old connections resurfacing with completely new significance (especially those you thought you had figured out)
Crystal of the Week: Black Tourmaline
I chose this crystal as I believe it aligns perfectly with the defensive energies shown in our rune reading, as well as helping us prepare for the winter energy of the upcoming Beaver Moon.
Black Tourmaline is known for its grounding and protective qualities, helping to transform negative energies into positive ones. It creates a protective shield around the user, perfect for these darker autumn nights.
